River rescue (Cieza)
At about 9:15 in the morning, 1-1-2 received a phone call alerting them that a woman had fallen into the river while trying to rescue her dog and was being swept away by the strong current.
Local police arrived immediately and located the woman in danger, finding her in a hard-to-reach area, clinging to the undergrowth to avoid being swept away by the river.
Local police tried to reach her, but it proved unsuccessful, so they requested assistance from the Fire Department, who had to work hard to finally rescue her.
Once safe, the woman showed mild signs of hypothermia and scratches, and had to be treated in the emergency department of the Cieza hospital.
Apparently, the woman was walking her dog when it fell into the river and was swept away with no possibility of getting out, so the owner did not hesitate to rescue it but also suffered the same fate.
