The announcement was made during the Local Sports Council meeting held on Thursday.
The Department of Sports convened the Local Sports Council to discuss various current issues in Cieza's sport. The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas, and the Councilor for Sports, Carlos Semitiel, accompanied by the Department's technical staff and various Council representatives.
The City Council announced a new increase in subsidies for sports clubs and aid for athletes, which have risen to €100,000. Carlos Semitiel described this as "a historic increase in the aid budget that fulfills the commitment we made to our clubs and our athletes."
During the meeting, the intention to hold the Sports Gala was also announced, following two seasons of inactivity due to COVID-19. The new edition, scheduled for September, will include new features such as the awards ceremony for the 1st Local Runners League.
Finally, the Council welcomed the presentation of the new draft regulations for the use of municipal sports facilities. The draft will be sent to local clubs so they and the Local Council representatives can implement their proposals. Furthermore, this draft will have a public exhibition period so all citizens can provide their input before it is presented to the Municipal Plenary for initial approval.
Sports Councilor Carlos Semitiel concluded the meeting by thanking the Council members for their participation, considering it "a fundamental tool for continuing to improve everything related to local sports. For the council, it is very important to maintain ongoing contact with the various sectors of local sports to learn about their proposals and opinions."
