Cieza hosted a citizen participation event this Tuesday afternoon to gather residents' opinions on the municipality and proposals for improvement.

The activity consisted of a neighborhood walk through the old town with associations active in this area of the municipality and individuals whose economic activity takes place in the old town. The general public was also invited to the event.

During the tour, which began at the Esquina del Convento and ended at the Balcón del Muro, stops were made at strategic locations to discuss topics such as improving the municipality's resilience to heat waves and high temperatures, the accessibility of the Las Morericas neighborhood, and the depopulation of the historic center. These topics are of particular interest for revitalizing this area of Cieza.

This activity, part of Cieza's Urban Agenda Pilot, was joined by the UrbActivistas festival, an initiative carried out by the consulting firm EuroVértice to develop an official parallel event to the New Bauhaus Festival. During this festival, a workshop on planting native species was held on the Balcón del Muro (Balcony of the Wall) with the aim of promoting the renaturalization of cities and citizen care for public spaces. The festival featured a presentation by MEP Marcos Ros, who explained the importance of the New Bauhaus in a video.

The mayor of Cieza stated that “dSince work began on this strategic document, various activities and workshops have been organized to encourage listening and gathering input from the people of Cieza. In this way, we are jointly developing the roadmap to follow from now until 2030.

"From the City Council, we will continue working together to build a better Cieza with a higher quality of life for its residents." Pascual, Mayor of Cieza, declared.

Lucas was accompanied by the first deputy mayor, María Jesús López, and councilors Antonio Moya and Concepción Ballesteros.
