The JHP and the Cieza City Council signed a new financial collaboration agreement, increasing its financial support by 251% to 30% (see chart). From Easter 2016 to 2022, the Cieza City Council increased its financial support with the JHP by 251% to 30%.
The mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas, and the president of the Junta de Hermandades Pasionarias de Cieza, Joaquín Gómez, signed the 2022 collaboration agreement between both entities, with the aim of supporting and collaborating financially in the maintenance of facilities and operation of the JHP, the processional parades and the activities proposed by its 18 brotherhoods within the program of annual events and activities of Holy Week in Cieza, declared of National Tourist Interest, as well as the dissemination of the same through conferences, activities or advertising.
Furthermore, this year we must add the investment made around the Arrest Ceremony, which amounted to approximately 75,000 euros, financed entirely with European funds, through the ADRI-Leader Local Action Group. "The Arrest Ceremony on Holy Tuesday 2022 captivated attention both within our Region and Spain, with a moving representation meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail." Among the new features was the 3D audiovisual production projected onto the façade of the Basilica of the Assumption, and the most notable, without a doubt, was the masterful performance by the Cieza Municipal Music Band of the premiere of the soundtrack of the Arrest, composed for the occasion by the prestigious composer Roque Baños.
Municipal sources add that, "without a doubt, upon the return of our Holy Week, once the most critical period of the pandemic was over, the prestige and stature of Roque Baños as an internationally renowned composer caused a great impact and caught the attention of international media outlets sensitive to and closely aligned with Catholic traditions, in countries such as Italy, Portugal, Mexico, and Colombia."
"This also recognized the City Council's work and effort—financially, in terms of project and funding searches—to support and assist the enormous and impeccable work carried out year after year by the JHP, so that, together, we can achieve the recognition of International Tourist Interest that Cieza and its Holy Week deserve."
