The Old Prison in Murcia was the setting for the presentation of the 2023 Floración tourism program.

Cieza City Council's flagship tourism initiative is returning to full normalcy this year after the pandemic, attracting 80,000 foreign visitors last year. This year, however, this figure is expected to be surpassed.

Murcia's Old Prison hosted the launch of the seventh edition of the 'Floración International Tourism Plan', organized by the Cieza City Council and running from February 24 to March 19, with a multitude of activities related to nature, gastronomy, heritage, performing arts, and sports, areas that constitute the petals of 'Floración'.

The gala was attended by Pascual Lucas and José Antonio Serrano, mayors of Cieza and Murcia, respectively; Juan Francisco Martínez, Director General of Tourism; Antonio Moya, Councilor for Tourism; María Jesús López, Head of Commerce and Hospitality; Concepción Villa, Minister of Culture; and Carlos Semitiel, Councilor for Sports.

"Floración highlights the results achieved by Cieza's farmers, those who, after cultivating the fruit fields, are the undisputed creators of that unique landscape that only flowering can create and that allows us to enjoy the stone fruit of Cieza," Antonio Moya emphasized in his speech.

Pascual Lucas emphasized that the municipal government "will continue to promote the growth of this project and is also committed to the people of Cieza, farmers, tourism companies, the commercial and hospitality sector, and, of course, tourists from Murcia, Spain, and the rest of the world so that we all benefit from the wonders of the town."

The councilor added that "Cieza blooms and fills every corner of our culture and tradition with joy. Once again this year, the city celebrates Floración, the International Tourism and Economic Plan that pays tribute to the daily work of our farmers, a job that paints the fields pink, delighting tourists from all over the world, as well as those of us who have admired the crops since we were children.

This seventh edition is brimming with art, culture, music, and tradition, as it is dedicated to the performing arts, specifically to its # florcieza festival, which boasts a wide range of musical styles from top-level artists. We have taken on the challenge of celebrating Floración as a Smart Tourism Destination, showcasing our artistic, historical, and cultural heritage through a program of activities that enables innovative, accessible, and 21st-century tourism for all, and is a driving force for commerce and hospitality. Floración has been able to involve an entire city; it's not just a Tourism Plan; it's much more. I invite you to discover it from February 24th to March 19th.

In this seventh edition, 'Floración' is accompanied by numerous activities, framed within each of its component petals. The Performing Arts and the 'Flor Cieza Festival' stand out as key players, but the program also includes extensive programs covering Nature, Heritage, Sports, and Gastronomy.

The presentation was enlivened by a musical performance by the Cieza group Lücky Dückes.
