Sources from Cieza City Council report that Ecovidrio, the non-profit organization responsible for managing the recycling of glass packaging waste in Spain, in collaboration with Cieza City Council, is launching the "La Peña Recicla" awareness campaign during the San Bartolomé festivities to promote glass recycling among all members of the club and residents of the municipality.
The initiative, which will take place on August 27 and 28, challenges all clubs to participate in the contest and compete against each other to recycle as many kilograms of glass as possible during these days. The club that recycles the most will win a batch of local products.
Days to participate
For the competition, Ecovidrio will set up an information stand on Camino de Murcia, next to the Crazy Car Race area, on August 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., where environmental educators will raise awareness about glass container recycling among the public. A giant scale will also be placed on the Paseo Ribereño at the "Arroz y conejo" (Rice and Rabbit) where members of the club must come on August 28th from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. to weigh and recycle their glass container waste. Several educators will weigh the glass and keep track of the kilograms recycled by each club. In addition, an eco-patrol will visit the festival clubs during this same time, encouraging them to participate in the competition and recycle all the glass containers they generate.
Additionally, members of the club can upload their most sustainable photos to social media using the hashtag #LaPeñaRecicla.
