The free television service for users of all Murcian Health Service (SMS) hospitals begins tomorrow in the trial phase. Television reception equipment will be gradually replaced in all hospitals. The number of devices for operation and maintenance is 2,207, of which 1,894 will initially be replaced.

Health Minister Juan José Pedreño expressed his satisfaction with the launch of this service, "which fulfills the commitment we made to the citizens of the region and facilitates hospital stays for patients and their companions."

"We are especially sensitive to the needs of people in vulnerable situations, and having a free television service will make their hospital stay more pleasant," he added.

This contract for the television service for users of public hospitals, except for the Virgen del Castillo Hospital in Yecla, which already had this service, amounts to 3.7 million euros, has a five-year term, and includes free internet access, which will be implemented gradually.

To cover all of this, a free Wi-Fi network infrastructure will be installed, starting in 2024. This infrastructure will be sufficient to provide the aforementioned services at the contractor's expense, independent of existing healthcare services, with the security and quality levels established by the SMS's IT managers.
