The usual gathering at Esquina del Convento is suspended for that day only and will resume on Wednesday, February 14.
In a statement sent to local media, the Arenal Women's Association has announced the organization of a discussion on the commercial, financial, and political boycott of the State of Israel, next Wednesday, February 7, at 7:30 p.m., at the Padre Salmerón Municipal Library.
The talk-colloquium will replace the usual gathering at the Esquina del Convento, with which the women's association invites residents of Cieza to express their support for the Palestinian people and their condemnation of Israel's terrible acts in the Gaza Strip. These protest and awareness-raising events "have been held every Wednesday, starting at 7:30 p.m., since January, and will continue as long as there are no substantial changes in the evolution of the conflict." However, this Wednesday will be replaced by the aforementioned talk, as "it is essential to disseminate a campaign."
The talk, organized by Arenal, will feature members of the movement, who will "explain the content and meaning of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, which is orchestrated globally and is a very powerful tool due to its potential economic impact." Above all, information will be provided on "how everyone can participate in the campaign and thereby contribute to the fight against Zionist apartheid and the occupation of Palestine."
Arenal wants to make it very clear that, "although the weekly rally in support of Palestine is being suspended this Wednesday to convene the discussion on the boycott, it will resume the following Wednesday, February 14, at the usual time and place."
