The Minister of the Presidency, Spokesperson and Foreign Affairs, Marcos Ortuño,
together with the mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio, visited this Tuesday the
actions carried out within the Community Works and Services Plan
in the area of Camino de la Estación.
The mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio, has valued this very positively
visit and highlighted the Autonomous Community's commitment to investment
intended for municipal works and services.
It is a safe bet for the municipality, enabling Cieza to be a better city with the help of the

Improvements in the old town of Cieza
The councilor has emphasized the importance of the announcement made by the spokesperson for the
Regional Government and Minister of the Presidency, Tourism, Culture and Sports of
increase by 60 percent the amount used to address the new
investments destined for works and services in Cieza.
It will be one of the municipalities that will benefit the most from the increase in funds from the Plan
Works and Services intended for populations of less than 50,000 inhabitants.
The Community Works and Services Plan improves lighting in the
old town of Cieza
The Works and Services Plan carried out by the Community, in collaboration
with the town councils of the 41 municipalities in the Region with less than 50,000
inhabitants, has led to an investment of 494,860 euros in Cieza, 96.5 percent
percent from regional funding.
The budget, managed by the Ministry of the Presidency, Spokesperson and
Foreign Action, through the General Directorate of Local Administration,
corresponds to the 2022-23 program, which included the execution of projects of
improvement of lighting and paving in various streets in Cieza.
The station area has also been improved.
Among these remodeled streets are Almudena and Germán streets.
Arias and the Station road, which was visited today by the councilor, Marcos Ortuño,
together with the mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio, to check the status of the
artery after completing the paving works carried out, which had a
cost of 202,000 euros. The work carried out allowed the area to be updated
of urbanization, both sidewalks and roads, and adapt it to improve its
accessibility.
"This plan constitutes a tool that allows not only to improve the
services provided to residents, but at the same time, to revitalize
also the local and regional economy, since these are works that largely
are carried out by small and medium-sized companies in the Community," he explained
Ortuño.
Furthermore, in his opinion, the program is an “excellent example” of what is
can be achieved through cooperation between different administrations and “a
demonstration that coordinated work, aimed at improving the lives of
people, allows us to join forces and is much more effective than acting in a
separated”.
On the other hand, the Works and Services Plan also made it possible to undertake the
Improving the energy efficiency of public lighting in the old town
of the municipality. Thus, after an investment of 150,000 euros, the
luminaires with others of more modern design and LED technology, high
performance and low consumption, whose energy savings can exceed 75 percent
percent compared to traditional sources.
The lanterns installed were chosen because their design revives the
Classic style luminaires that harmonize better with the environment they represent
the historic center.
Road reinforcement and sidewalk remodeling
Projects funded under the last plan will be completed with the
Road reinforcement and sidewalk remodeling on Federico García Street
Lorca, Quevedo and Cordovín. The budget in this case amounts to more than
141,000 euros, of which 124,000 euros come from financing of the
Community and the remaining 17,000 euros from the Cieza City Council.
The works will consist of the demolition of pavements and construction of
sidewalks and curbs, as well as replacing tree pits affected by roots
the trees and replace the missing specimens and install vertical signage
and horizontal.
