The program, which is implemented through 13 non-governmental development organizations, reaches schoolchildren in 45 municipalities for the first time and is also being expanded to include university students.
The regional government's international cooperation educational projects will include specific workshops for university students this year. Until now, these activities were aimed at students between the ages of 8 and 16.
Another important development is that more than 26,000 children from schools in all the Region's municipalities will participate in these international cooperation awareness-raising activities. The initiatives, carried out through 13 non-governmental development organizations (NGDOs), have a budget of €120,000 from the Ministry of the Presidency, Spokesperson, Foreign Affairs, and Emergencies. This means that the campaign will reach 5,000 more students than in the 2024 edition and will be supported by all 45 municipalities in the Region.
These activities aim to promote education and awareness for development, based on the values of solidarity and co-responsibility in the fight against poverty and exclusion.
Development education, delivered in schools, seeks to inform and foster greater student understanding of the reality of impoverished countries, the problems affecting them, poverty, and its causes.
