The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, as part of the services established to prevent and prosecute drug trafficking, has carried out Operation "Chasles," in which it has dismantled a criminal group running an active drug sales point located in the urban area of Cieza.

During the operation, the Civil Guard arrested the four members of the criminal group on suspicion of committing crimes against public health, drug trafficking, and electricity fraud. In addition, the search resulted in the seizure of more than 100 doses of cocaine, approximately 100 grams of hashish, and a large quantity of medications. Other items linked to drug trafficking were seized, including precision scales, items used to wrap and prepare doses, cash, a car, and a large quantity of hunting ammunition, among other items.

The operation began last year, when officers from the Civil Guard's Citizen Security Prevention Unit launched an operation to verify a series of indications regarding the existence of a retail drug sales outlet located in a home in the city center of Cieza.

Initial investigations allowed investigators to locate a property and verify their suspicions. Civil Guard officers found that the home received a high number of visitors, both on foot and in vehicles, who would leave after spending only a minute inside.

During their surveillance of the home, the Civil Guard also found that the number of visits increased as the day progressed, with the evening and nighttime hours, and especially the days leading up to the weekend, being the most frequent. It was also confirmed that the alleged buyers included numerous regular customers from Cieza and neighboring municipalities.

The Civil Guard continued the investigation until they identified the individuals running the active drug sales outlet. The suspects were four members of a family clan with a history of similar crimes, who primarily distributed cocaine and hashish.

Once all the necessary evidence was obtained, the Civil Guard carried out the exploitation phase of the operation, locating and arresting the four suspects, suspected of committing crimes against public health, drug trafficking, and electrical fraud, after detecting an illegal connection to the electrical grid at the residence used as a drug sales point.

During the search of the home, the Civil Guard officers found a work table containing more than 100 doses of cocaine and nearly 100 grams of hashish, along with cutting tools, precision scales, wire, and plastic bags with circular cutouts used to wrap the doses, which were seized.

Also found were 700 high-concentration clonazepam tablets, a benzodiazepine used as an antiepileptic. It is also commonly used illicitly to make "karkubi," a type of drug similar in appearance to hashish but with a lower market value.

During the search, the Civil Guard also seized 2,000 euros in cash, around 50 12mm cartridges, and a car used during the now-solved criminal activity, among other items.
