Sources from the Cieza City Council's Tourism Department indicate that, now halfway through the flowering period, the season has attracted more visitors to Cieza than in the previous season, mainly due to the increase in tourists and visitors during weekdays, "which represents a significant step forward."
The note adds that while weekends were very popular in 2017, this year there has been a significant jump, with a steady stream of tourists arriving daily to the city and countryside. These have mainly been groups of tourists on organized tours who take advantage of a bus stop in Cieza, from all over Spain, as well as groups of foreigners (Japanese, German, English, Dutch, etc.). Added to this are those who make their visit by private car.
The Tourist Office receives a steady stream of emails and phone calls daily from people interested in the flowering season and the municipality's natural and cultural tourist attractions, "data that has been confirmed by various companies involved in the tourism sector." "The museums are receiving hundreds of visitors, especially at the Molino Cebollo, where a multitude of activities are taking place. Participation in sporting events has increased considerably, with athletes taking advantage of the day to spend time with their families and enjoy the charms of our courses. All of this is having a significant, very positive impact on our city's establishments, businesses, and especially hospitality venues, as we have been informed by the various associations representing these professionals."
The municipal statement concludes by stating that "there is no doubt that the work carried out by Cieza City Council is being very well received and is having a positive impact on our city, making it known throughout the world. This adds value to our fruit products, particularly peaches, and is clearly having a very positive effect on businesses in the tourism sector and on the retail and hospitality industries."
