This year, the council has made a special collaborative effort to ensure a festivity where all residents can enjoy a variety of activities.
The festivities in honor of the neighborhood's patron saint will run until next Wednesday, July 29th. They will begin on Tuesday the 24th with the election of the festivities' queen and her bridesmaids, and on the 25th with the opening ceremony and fireworks display. They will offer nearly a week of numerous activities for all tastes.
There will be dancing, music, popular and sporting games, activities and contests for children, street parties, traditional dishes, and a gachamigas (a kind of "gachamigas") competition, all part of a festive program organized with great care and effort by the Santa María Street Residents' Association in conjunction with the Department of Citizen Participation. In addition, this year the proceeds from the tavern will benefit the PUPEC association.
The council wishes "all residents a happy holiday season."
