Siyâsa volunteers deliver 250 kg of food to the Spanish Red Cross in Cieza to distribute among the needy residents of our town.

Last Thursday, February 14th, at 7 pm, at the Siyâsa Museum, the delivery to said NGO took place, represented by its local president and other volunteers from the Cieza Red Cross.

The food collection has been carried outThis was part of the campaign called "A Book Against Hunger," which has been carried out at the Siyâsa Museum in the last month and a half, with the essential collaboration of the Department of Museums.

A similar activity was carried out two years ago through Cáritas. At that time, the Cieza City Council decided to give the Siyâsa Volunteer Association all the books/catalogs that were left over from the Museum's exhibitions held during the last almost 20 years.

The campaign, coordinated between the Cieza Museums Council and the Siyâsa Volunteers Association, consisted of handing over a book from the aforementioned catalogs in exchange for one kilo or one liter of non-perishable food.

The Siyâsa Volunteers would like to emphasize that the success of the activity was largely due to the donations of food and money from the children who participated in the Christmas-themed craft workshops held on Saturdays in December at the Siyâsa Museum. The children and the adults accompanying them voluntarily donated these items out of solidarity and gratitude for the free workshops.

These activities were carried out by volunteers from the association with materials supplied by the Department of Museums and were a great success in terms of attendance, with more than 100 children participating, and in developing the children's manual and artistic skills.

All the food collected has been donated to the Spanish Red Cross in Cieza, as an act of solidarity with those most in need. Few remember that people at risk of social exclusion still need food after the Christmas holidays, which is when these food drives are usually held. The Red Cross will distribute the food to those in need.

All the staff of the Siyâsa Museum have collaborated, of their own free will, in this campaign and the Siyâsa Volunteer Association is extremely grateful to them.

Sometimes the donations have been made in money and the Siyâsa Volunteers Association has bought more food, always in neighborhood stores.

This year the food collection and distribution activity was carried out with the Spanish Red Cross of Cieza, but in future campaigns we will continue to do so also with Cáritas since both NGOs do fantastic work and are appreciated by the Siyâsa Volunteers.
