The Sports Service, in collaboration with several organizations, offers a series of local leagues for amateur athletes.

The purpose of this municipal initiative, in collaboration with the clubs and organizing entities, is to promote and encourage sports among amateurs, both men and women, with harmony and sportsmanship as the mainstays of this competition.

"Taking advantage of the improved health situation, due to the successful vaccination of the population, we are going to launch a project that was conceived before the pandemic and that we were unable to carry out. It consists of a series of local leagues for different sports. The first of these will be the 7-a-side football league, which will begin in mid-October and will be organized by Cieza's grassroots football clubs. We want to gradually return to normal sports activities and make sports and facilities accessible to all citizens. Of course, we will continue to comply with the safety measures, as is inevitable," explained the Councilor for Sports, Carlos Semitiel. It is a competition aimed at those over 18 years of age and will take place from Monday to Thursday, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at the La Era municipal field. The initiative will comply with all the safety measures dictated by the health authorities.

For the organization's spokesperson, José Antonio Marín, this idea "has been very well received by those who want to continue enjoying this sport. We want to foster camaraderie and fair play and create a league aimed at those who, after finishing their workday, feel like playing the sport they've always loved." Due to the pandemic, this year's edition will be planned for a maximum of twenty teams. "Choosing La Era as the playing field makes it much easier for us to handle the associated complexity, both at the organizational, sporting, and health levels, and thus be able to strictly comply with health measures."
