Work on the project, which has been awarded a contract of €150,221.50, will begin in the coming weeks.

Over the next few days, 363 lighting units and 38 lanterns will be replaced. The project was carried out with energy efficiency in mind; the improvement work will result in a 74.6% saving in electricity consumption in the area where the replacement will take place. Consumption will decrease from 245,025 kWh/ha to 62,073 kWh/year, a significant saving.

"Moving toward sustainability and savings is an important responsibility. The project serves a dual purpose: on the one hand, to improve lighting in the affected area, and on the other, to reduce consumption and increase savings," say municipal sources.

“A few weeks ago, we publicly presented the Study for the Revitalization and Dynamization of Cieza's Old Town, carried out with the participation of residents, businesses, neighborhood associations, and municipal experts. The study itself includes actions and measures that will potentially improve the urban space. We will continue working along the lines of the study and implementing measures progressively. We understand the complexities of Cieza's historic center, which is why we commissioned the study that has recently been published,” stated María Jesús López, Councilor for Works and Services, who concluded by stating that “the project has been funded through a grant from the Works and Services Plan (POS), addressing specific needs and with the main objective of improving the quality of life of the residents of our city.”
