The Cieza City Council's Department of Finance has issued a press release announcing the extension of the voluntary vehicle tax payment deadline, which was set to end on May 5th, to June 5th.
This tax had already been paid prior to the declaration of the state of emergency, so its payment date was not "delayed" in the previous amendment to the tax calendar. However, once the Royal Decree of March 31 was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on April 1, a voluntary extension of the deadline was made possible.
Please note that the payment slips sent to homes are only valid until May 5th (the previous deadline). Therefore, any citizen wishing to pay their bill after May 5th will need to do so online, through the electronic office, or by requesting a new payment slip at municipal offices, picking it up in person once normality has returned, or by emailing autoliquidaciones@cieza.es. Direct debit bills will be issued on June 5th.
"There is no doubt that these changes may cause some confusion, so we will continue to provide regular updates. As a result of the current situation caused by the pandemic, we are facing a continuous change in state regulations, which, combined with the municipal government's intention to facilitate payments and help citizens, is causing a fluctuation in municipal tax payment dates. Therefore, we thank citizens for their cooperation and ask them to continue complying with the rules and recommendations to combat the pandemic," the statement concludes.
