The City Council recalls the economic measures taken in response to the state of emergency.

Sources from the Cieza City Council have recalled the economic measures that the Council has adopted on an extraordinary basis to alleviate the serious situation caused by the coronavirus crisis.

The municipal government plans to create a contingency fund to address the needs of Cieza residents as a result of the crisis caused by the pandemic. This fund will have a budget of up to €400,000 and will also contribute to a substantial increase in the social employment allocation that this administration included in the budget. Furthermore, as of the end of March, since the declaration of the state of emergency, €2,429,133.74 has been paid to suppliers, a process carried out as quickly as possible since the pandemic began.

It is important to remember that this measure joins those already taken by the government team and which will take effect in the current year 2020, consisting of the suspension of nursery school receipts, modification of the tax calendar to delay the payment of the IBI and garbage collection, refund of fees for services not provided such as the municipal swimming pool, suspension of the second quarter of the weekly market in order to proceed with the refund of the proportional part of the first for the weeks without work.

Likewise, for three months no receipts for settlement of rights will be issued, more facilities for deferrals, suspension of the fee for occupation of public road by tables and chairs for establishments, suspension of the drinking water tariff in all establishments that have had to close, and for the next plenary session the suspension of the ICIO tax will be agreed, with which it is intended to reactivate construction with works or reforms, likewise the fee for activity licenses will be suspended, thus avoiding difficulties for those who want to start a business in these difficult times.

Finally, the government team thanks the citizens for their displays of solidarity, their enormous responsibility, and their hope that we will soon return to normal.
