Firefighters from the Murcia Region Fire and Rescue Consortium (CEIS) extinguished a reed and brush fire last night on the banks of the Segura River, in the Menjú area of the municipality of Cieza.
At 12:08 a.m., 1-1-2 received a dozen calls reporting the fire, which they located on the left bank of the river next to the RM-512 highway at kilometer 4, in the aforementioned area. Local police patrols from Cieza and Abarán, firefighters from the CEIS, and an environmental officer were dispatched to the scene.
By 1:15 a.m., the fire was extinguished and firefighters were at their base. It had affected approximately 300 meters of sugarcane.
