Among the activities organized by the Diego Tortosa Secondary School to commemorate the International Day Against Gender Violence, in collaboration with the Department of Women, various workshops, talks, and activities were held with a common goal: to prevent the emergence of behaviors that undermine gender equality, starting from adolescence.
For this reason, municipal CAVI staff gave talks and discussions to 2nd and 1st year high school students on November 22nd and 23rd, covering various aspects of gender-based violence prevention and awareness. Several short films were shown, generating discussions with the students themselves and clarifying any questions they might have.
Meanwhile, the San Jorge Scout group held workshops with 4th-year secondary school students, focusing on micro-sexism, among other topics.
Other activities related to the rejection of gender-based violence were also held, including a poster, photography, and literary contest; a group photocall under the slogan "Reject, Report, and Educate"; a social media campaign "Let Me Think, Zero Gender-Based Violence," and the reading of a manifesto against gender-based violence.
In a statement, the Department for Women expressed its gratitude for the "great involvement of teachers and students at the Diego Tortosa Secondary School in Cieza, hoping that this will be the first of many years of collaboration in which both administrations continue to build bridges to achieve a common goal: the definitive eradication of gender-based violence."
