April 29th is International Dance Day, established in 1982 by the International Dance Council, a non-governmental organization founded by UNESCO in 1973 and based in Paris.
The Cieza Choir and Dance Group, which is part of the International Dance Council, has agreed to celebrate this day with the primary objective of promoting folklore as a fundamental dance form in the development of classical dance and as a highly important value in the cultural and artistic development of the diverse peoples that make up our country. At the same time, the goal is to bring folklore to all audiences and emphasize the importance of traditional and popular dance on this International Day, which has generally focused solely on classical and contemporary dance.
To this end, the Cieza Choir and Dance Group, together with the Municipal Folklore School, has organized an exhibition of traditional Cieza dances on April 21st in Plaza de España at 12 noon, in which approximately 150 people will participate.
