Cieza will host the EMU in its flood preparations.

The BIEM III is organizing a multi-risk exercise along the Segura River, in which 360 personnel with 120 resources will participate.
It will be installed next week at the Mariano Rojas Municipal Sports Center in Cieza and will use different locations in the city.

The Third Emergency Intervention Battalion (BIEM III), based in Bétera (Valencia), is preparing a multi-risk exercise in Murcia, centered on a major flood. This training will take place from February 26 to March 1, on the Segura River as it passes through the towns of Cieza and Calasparra.

360 personnel and 120 resources will be deployed, including containment systems, high-capacity bilge pumps, unmanned aerial vehicles (RPAS), fire trucks, and boats. In addition, aircraft from the Second Emergency Helicopter Battalion (BHELEME II) will be present.

The actions to be undertaken by the responders will include containment, bailing out, navigation and water rescue, diving, shore searches, search and rescue of missing persons using canine equipment, and helicopter rescue. Search and rescue will also be carried out in collapsed structures.

Some of the specific locations where the troops will be working will be the Alfonso XIII, Ojós, and Argos reservoirs, as well as the Lucas Tower in the municipality of Abarán.

The purpose of the exercise is to improve the level of instruction and training of those involved in dealing with a risky situation of this nature and the resulting emergencies.
