The Cieza City Council's Tourism Department organized a "fam trip" with ASGUIMUR, the Association of Official Tourist Guides of the Region of Murcia. The objective of this marketing strategy, also known as "familiarization trips," in which approximately 20 official guides participated, is to introduce industry professionals to the tourist, cultural, and scenic heritage that Cieza offers its visitors.
The visit began with a reception in the Cieza City Hall plenary hall by the Mayor, Pascual Lucas, and the Councilor for Tourism, Antonio Moya. They were then scheduled to visit the Folklore Interpretation Center and the Holy Week House Museum, before continuing to the uninhabited Medina Siyâsa and the Serreta Cave-Sinkhole. They concluded with a visit to a flowering area, another of Cieza's major tourist attractions.
ASGUIMUR is an Association of Official Tourist Guides of the Region of Murcia, made up of 57 professional tourist guides. It also belongs to CEFAPIT, the Spanish Confederation of Federations and Associations of Official Tourist Guides, the FEG (European Federation of Tourist Guides), and the WFTGA (World Federation of Tourist Guides). These organizations were founded with the aim of defending the profession of official guide and elevating the profession to the category and rank it deserves among those recognized and regulated by the European Union.
