Cieza will have an Archaeological Museum on Cadenas Street

Cieza City Council has received two new European grants for the renovation of the former Archaeological Museum on Cadenas Street and the creation of a Social Center in San José Obrero.

The new projects have received an excellent rating, both ranking among the top 10 out of more than 180 projects selected across Spain.

"A few hours ago, we learned important news that consolidates Cieza's position as a leading city in Europe. The European Union once again supports Cieza's present and future projects by awarding two new grants," said Mayor Pascual Lucas.

The first of these involves the remodeling of the Old Siyâsa Museum, located on Cadenas Street. This project aims to bring Cieza's past and history to life in a sustainable, inclusive, and accessible physical space. The building will be equipped with various exhibition spaces and a cafeteria. The project was developed with the significant boost this building will provide to Cieza's Historic Center and to its consolidation as a tourist destination in mind.

The second grant will be used to renovate the Cieza Local Police Station, which will be transformed into a social center that will provide shelter and space for the municipality's various associations. The investment responds to Cieza City Council's goal of promoting the neighborhood. The project will involve a remodeling and redesign of the neighborhood, dividing it into different work, meeting, and leisure areas.

These two grants are in addition to those already secured by the City Council, such as the one that will allow for the installation of photovoltaic panels on public buildings, the one that made possible the "construction of Knitwear," others that will enable the rehabilitation of the Capdevilla Mill, and the remodeling of the Camino de Murcia. "We also cannot forget the achievement of the Sustainable Tourism Plan promoted by the Cieza City Council, which has a budget of 3,150,000 euros."

María Jesús López, councilor responsible for European projects, points out that "few cities in Spain can boast of having secured more than €13 million to create new spaces and new opportunities. These new successes aren't a matter of luck, nor are they a coincidence; they're the result of very hard daily work. Grants don't just fall from the sky; we work for them every day, and a job well done bears fruit." López also emphasized that "the citizen participation these projects have enjoyed is worthy of appreciation. The improvements coming to Cieza are the result of work involving a specialized technical team, but also the citizens who use and will use the spaces."

"Europe has understood Cieza's present and future project and endorses it once again, this time by granting two new investments to improve the lives of the people of Cieza, but also to continue enhancing the Plan and Cieza's tourism offering, which is bringing so much employment and progress to our city," said Pascual Lucas, who added, "We have turned Cieza into one of the leading Spanish cities in Europe. Cieza is becoming the mirror in which all municipalities want to look; we have made it possible for more than €13 million to come to Cieza from Europe. Cieza is a land of possibilities, and the governing team I lead is filling it with them. We have done it again, our present and future project."
