Saorín, Councilor for Health and Public Health of the Cieza City Council, emphasizes that the objective is "to continue minimizing the risk of Covid-19 contagion, to which we are exposed every time we go shopping or have to go to work."
The Councillor for Health and Public Health of the Cieza City Council, Francisco Saorín, has issued a press release updating the recommendations to follow when returning home from errands or work, stressing that the objective is "to continue minimizing the risk of Covid-19 infection, to which we are exposed every time we go shopping or have to go to work," reminding everyone that common sense and frequent hand washing are the most effective ways to prevent infection.
Saorín, following the updated recommendations of the Ministry of Health, specifies that you have to take off your shoes when you get home and leave them near the door, although the risk of contagion through a particle infected with the virus that has come from the asphalt to the sole of our shoes and from there to our mucous membranes inside the house is low.
It also warns, with regard to the use of the car to go to work or to travel to carry out any of the tasks allowed in the state of alarm, that it is important to take care in cleaning the areas that we touch most frequently: steering wheel, gear lever, door and trunk handles, seat belt, screens, armrests, window handles and buttons, etc.
Regarding items that are not needed at home (keys or wallet), the latest health advice recommends separating them and leaving them in a box near the door, as these items are in frequent contact with our hands and gloves, which in turn touch different surfaces exposed to the virus when we go out.
Disinfecting glasses and mobile phones is also recommended, using disposable wipes and an alcohol-based solution or soap and water. When it comes to mobile phones, it's important to remember that sharing them is not advisable, as they are in constant contact with our hands and near our mouths when we talk. As for glasses, care must be taken when cleaning them, as the lenses are delicate. To avoid scratching them, it's best to use soft microfiber cloths.
Regarding the clothes worn when going out, the Health Ministry recommends that if you have been "in an enclosed environment with other people for an extended period," you should put the used clothes in a bag without shaking them, "close the bag and do not take it out until you use it again to go out or until you wash it with hot water," and wash your hands thoroughly after handling it.
Finally, Saorín reiterated that washing hands, along with maintaining social distance, is the most effective measure of all, more so than any other preventative measure such as wearing gloves or a mask.
