The University of Murcia, the Cieza City Council, and the Mare Nostrum Campus have organized a series of workshops dedicated to the conservation and utilization of the area's rich heritage as a cultural and tourist asset. The co-director of the course "The Heritage of the Ricote Valley: Its Conservation and Utilization as a Cultural and Tourist Asset," María Dolores Piñera, from Cieza, explains that this is a unique opportunity to learn about the region's history and, in particular, the esparto grass tradition, the Ojós Nativity Scene Museum, the landscape and water culture, and the Medina Siyâsa site.

Goals
The main objective of this course is to promote knowledge of the Ricote Valley's heritage from a broad perspective: conservation, enhancement, and enjoyment. To this end, sessions will be held with the following guidelines:
– Analyze existing conservation strategies: regulations and protection figures.
– Observe the state of the most important heritage assets and the efforts made to enhance their value in different municipalities of the Valley.
– To assess the attractiveness of existing heritage for the local population and visitors to the Ricote Valley, both museums and other heritage assets. We understand that museums play a fundamental role as conservation agents and a means of citizen participation.
