The San Jorge Scout Group Association was awarded a batch of local products packaged in glass. The objective of the initiative was to raise awareness among members and the public about the importance of recycling glass packaging waste during the Patron Saint Festival.
Ecovidrio, the non-profit organization in charge of managing the recycling of glass packaging waste in Spain, presented this morning the award for the 'La Peña Recicla' campaign to the Peña Grupo Scout San Jorge, as they were the most prolific recyclers, collecting a total of 558 kg of glass packaging in the campaign.
This Ecovidrio initiative was carried out during the recent Patron Saint Festival in collaboration with the Cieza City Council to promote glass recycling among all members of the club and residents of the municipality.

The award ceremony was attended by Ecovidrio's regional coordinator, Manuel Sala; Cieza City Council's Councilor for Circular Economy, Francisco Martínez; Sports Councilor Pascual Egea; and representatives of the winning supporters' club.
The initiative took place on August 27 and 28, and challenged all the clubs to participate in the contest and compete against each other to recycle as many kilograms of glass as possible during these days. The winner was the San Jorge Scout Group Club, which won a prize consisting of a batch of local products packaged in glass.
For the competition, Ecovidrio placed a giant scale on the Paseo Ribereño. Club members visited the scales to weigh and recycle their glass packaging waste. Several educators were in charge of weighing the glass and checking the kilograms recycled by each club. In addition, an eco-patrol visited the festival clubs on August 27 and 28, encouraging them to participate in the competition and recycle all the glass containers they generated.
