The Almadenes Group was received by the mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio, to discuss the details of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the discovery of the Cueva del Arco and the rest of the sites with Paleolithic art, unique in the Region of Murcia to this day, as well as the events that the Almadenes Group wishes to carry out to celebrate these events.
During the conversation, the importance of the anniversary and the opportunity it presents for Cieza were highlighted, as it serves to re-emphasize the significance of this site and the other Paleolithic sites in the area. Furthermore, the Almadenes Group reminded the mayor that, for the past five years, the group has maintained that the Almadenes Canyon area requires appropriate protection, reflecting its geological, biological, historical, and cultural importance. To this end, the Almadenes Group proposes the creation of a cultural park as the appropriate legal framework for protecting the area.
