The mayor conveys key issues concerning Cieza to MP Miriam Guardiola

The mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio, held a working meeting this Monday morning with Miriam Guardiola, also from Cieza and a member of parliament in the Congress of Deputies, at the request of the national representative.

The mayor has conveyed his concerns about the main issues crucial to Cieza at the national level with the aim of developing parliamentary initiatives in the Cortes Generales that will have a beneficial impact on the municipality.

Among the topics discussed, the most prominent was that related to a key resource for this land, whose economy is mainly based on agriculture: water; "defense of the Tajo Segura water transfer and a national hydrological plan that protects the interests of our farmers."

On the other hand, the councilor has stressed the urgent need for the deployment and completion of key infrastructure for the development of Cieza and the urgency of resuming the railway line.

It's time to highlight the historical and cultural heritage of Cieza

On another note, Rubio referred to the need to promote, publicize and highlight the value of the historical and cultural heritage of Cieza, focusing on some essential sites such as the Arco cave, Serreta, Almadenes Canyon and the Medina Siyâsa siteamong others.

Furthermore, Tomás Rubio has elaborated on the urgency of intensifying the national and international promotion of Cieza's tourism offerings, with special emphasis on Holy Week, the flowering season, and landscape, sports, gastronomic, and cultural tourism.

Miriam Guardiola has stated that she will work decisively on these issues and will prioritize "defending the water transfer and ensuring water for farmers and irrigators in Cieza, resuming the railway line, protecting our historical and cultural heritage, and promoting our tourism potential and enhancing the value of our tourism products."

Finally, the mayor stated that, “I am sure that Miriam will fight fiercely to ensure that the voice of Cieza and the Region of Murcia is heard and heeded in the Cortes Generales, especially in the Congress of Deputies.”
