"The institutional event for LGBTQ+ Pride Day, which the Cieza City Council has officially celebrated for the first time, is the best indicator of the commitment and role of municipal institutions in guaranteeing effective equality for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity," municipal sources indicate.
The commemoration took place this Thursday afternoon on the terrace of the Padre Salmerón Municipal Library, where María Cobarro read the poem "Mariposas" by Marcos Abraham, accompanied on piano by Antonio Jesús Hernández Alba. The composer from Cieza performed his own bolero entitled "Y no hay más por qué" (And there is no more reason why).
The institutional event, presided over by Mayor Tomás Rubio, was opened by the Councilor for Social Services and closed by the Minister of Culture, María Turpín, who highlighted "the importance of holding this event for the first time from the Cieza City Council" and reaffirmed its commitment to effective equality for all people.
Also attending the event were councilors Mari Ángeles Ruiz, Cristo Manuel Lucas, Manuel Martínez, and Amparo Pino, as well as representatives of other political parties.
