The first meeting has already been held with representatives of the different artisan trades in the city to shape this association.
The Cieza City Council has begun this project, creating the Association of Artisans, "which will be entirely beneficial for the guild." "It is well known that Cieza is the cradle of many artisan trades, hence the importance of choosing the path of association to highlight the value of the work they do and to be able to count on more support from other organizations outside the municipality as a formally established entity."
Many of these crafts, such as esparto grass weaving, are part of the local culture, and therefore the councilor responsible, Conchi Villa, aims to "preserve and promote them, as they bring great added value to Cieza." Villa adds that "handmade products stand out because of their unique characteristics; each product is one-of-a-kind, and they possess a distinctive artisanal charm."
The Department of Crafts will provide all the necessary support to formalize the creation of the association, with the dissemination and promotion of artisanal fabric also being key goals.
