The City Council meets with the municipality's social entities

Mayor Pascual Lucas and Councilor for Social Policies Melba Miñano continue their meetings with organizations for people with disabilities, senior citizens, and social action organizations.

Following up on the ongoing active listening of local organizations working with people with disabilities, the elderly, and social workers, Mayor Pascual Lucas and the head of the department, Melba Miñano, have met with Piedras Vivas, the Red Cross, Cáritas, Acifad, Aepismi, Adifam, and the Refugio San José y San Enrique Nursing Home at both the town hall and Social Services.

In these interviews, the organizations have shared with the City Council the social reality arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Regarding this, Melba Miñano states, based on her experiences, that "the pandemic, which has so severely affected the general population, has been especially difficult for the professionals who care for these vulnerable groups, as well as for the users."

Lucas and Miñano addressed current and future demands, recognizing that "direct communication channels are the most efficient and effective way to quickly and effectively address the needs of these local entities." Along these lines, the meetings addressed a vitally important issue: the review of the annual subsidies that the City Council grants to various local entities for their activities.

"The local government is fully aware of the great work these local entities do with and for the residents of the town." Therefore, Pascual Lucas maintains that "understanding the sector's strengths and weaknesses firsthand is a necessity for the governing team, because it allows us to continue working to improve the quality of life of all the people served and their caregivers."
