Cieza native Francisco Martínez Serrano opens "Oníricos" in Archena

The Mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio, and the Councilor for Culture, María Turpín, attended the opening of the painting exhibition "Oníricos" by Cieza-born artist Francisco Martínez Serrano at the Archena Municipal Museum on Thursday evening.

The opening was hosted by Archena's Tourism Councilor, Mario Alcaraz.

The exhibition is composed of thirty abstract works that challenge the limits of perception and artistic expression.

The works show us a very personal painting, the fruit of the artist's overflowing imagination, in which we can clearly appreciate the surrealist influence.

The painter José Lucas has described Martínez Serrano as "a restless, turbulent, intuitive painter whose promising work is very surprising to me."

In his speech, Rubio recalled that this Thursday is World Alzheimer's Day, noting that "art and painting are a good way for people to fight forgetfulness, one of the most disheartening consequences of this cruel disease."

The exhibition will remain open until November 19.
