The Mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas, appeared at a press conference alongside the Councilor for Finance, Antonio Ignacio Martínez-Real, to announce new projects and investments planned for our city. Among the investments, the final section of the wastewater collector from Ascoy stands out.

The Mayor recalled that this Government has already carried out works on Camino de Molino, Carretera B-19 and Barrio Jover to eliminate unpleasant odours. The CARM (Mediterranean Municipality) was also hired to carry out a section of the collector. Now, the City Council will once again assume the financing of the final phase of the work, amounting to €1,500,000.

Pascual Lucas also wanted to highlight the existence of significant investments for rural roads with 200,000 E or 450,000 E for parks and gardens, the continuation of improvements in “La Arboleja” with the construction of a roof (100,000 E) or important actions on public roads, in addition to an important package of “anti-crisis” measures where the 200,000 E that will be allocated to campaigns to promote shops and hospitality stand out.

Investments from participatory budgets, decided by citizens, are also being considered, as are new police vehicles and the installation of new security cameras.

For his part, the Councilor for Finance added the increase in aid to sports clubs, amounting to 100,000 euros, as well as transport aid for students, the creation of a new BONOTAXI aid line for people with mobility difficulties, and the provision of 200,000 euros to a social employment plan.

Finally, the Councilor concluded by stating that, with the 2021 budget finalized, the City Council continues to enjoy budgetary stability, despite the circumstances and the significant efforts made in aid and investment. This is allowing it to address the current situation better than in other places where local governments lack such strength.
