The Marcelino Oliver Foundation requests the government of the Region of Murcia to enact a law on sponsorship for the 90% program in order to activate the Murcian Grassroots Cycling movement.

Much has been said about the coronavirus crisis and its economic consequences, but very little is being discussed about possible solutions to help many grassroots cycling teams overcome this setback. One alternative is a sponsorship law to support sponsors and their investment in sports in general, and cycling in particular, through tax breaks.

From the Marcelino Oliver Foundation, we are committed to supporting the grassroots of cycling so that the youngest participants do not suffer the consequences of this pandemic. A real boost to a sports patronage law through the Foundation would allow us to save many cycling school teams, cadets, juniors, Under-23s and women, and at the same time give continuity to many sports clubs that have been fighting for the grassroots of cycling in Murcia for many years.

This tax relief measure would undoubtedly be a significant incentive to prevent cycling in Murcia from plummeting between 2021 and 2023. It will be implemented exceptionally for two years. The sponsorship law should allow less financially fortunate sports to benefit from sponsorships.
