The Vega 'Lorenzo Guirao' Hospital in Cieza is holding a kayak trip down the Segura River, between Cieza and Blanca, this Saturday to commemorate its 20th anniversary. This event was promoted by the hospital's management and staff.
The hospital's anniversary commemorative activities began last April, when they organized the first Solidarity March, in which nearly 200 people participated in a 6-kilometer route to benefit the Regional Association of Parents and Guardians of the Mentally Disabled (Ascopas) of Cieza, Abarán, and Blanca.
The Segura River descent runs through a 13-kilometer stretch of land of great ecological value and is one of the adventure activities that requires the most team coordination.
Currently, the Lorenzo Guirao Hospital is piloting new technological innovation projects such as the social-health inpatient unit, the MySphera patient tracking project, case management nurses, and bedside electronic medical records.
Over its twenty years of existence, it has significantly improved healthcare for patients in its area, which encompasses the municipalities of Abarán, Cieza, and Blanca, and serves a population of more than 53,000 potential users, contributing to the improvement of the regional healthcare system.
