Inauguration of the Nativity Scene of Saint Bartholomew on December 22

The first Christmas celebration in which a nativity scene was set up to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ was on Christmas Eve in 1223, created by Saint Francis of Assisi in a cave near the hermitage of Greccio (Italy). The scene of Christ's birth was not represented with figurines and miniatures of everyday objects, as we do today, nor with people, although Saint Francis did use animals for the occasion.

As every year, the Brotherhood of San Bartolomé has collaborated on the exhibition of its Monumental Nativity Scene in the Hermitage of San Bartolomé.

The Brotherhood expresses its gratitude for the work done by the Mesnada Maestre Pedro Fernández and the Kábila Abencerrajes in its implementation.

The opening will be next Friday, December 22, at 8:30 p.m.
