The Cieza Department of Circular Economy and Water announces that the parks and gardens department will be carrying out work on several trees, specifically the black peppercorns (Schinus molle), located on the Paseo.
The action is due to the problems of decline and disease that have appeared in several specimens in recent years, which have led to the loss of vigor and the fall of several branches.
According to studies conducted by specialists, the affected specimens show advanced deterioration that compromises their stability, identifying a high risk in some specimens due to severe structural problems.
Given this situation, and in line with the tree management model promoted by the City Council, the necessary actions have been prioritized to preserve the safety of people and users of the space.
As part of these initiatives, work has been scheduled to replace the removed trees by planting adapted tree species that will allow for the restoration of maximum tree cover in the shortest possible time. This measure is part of the 2017-2032 Strategic Plan for Urban Ecology and Biodiversity, which promotes the improvement of green infrastructure and the connection between citizens and nature.
The Councilor for the Environment and Circular Economy, Francisco Martínez, emphasized that "these decisions are never easy, but they are necessary when people's safety is at stake. Our commitment remains to increasing Cieza's green footprint, always working from a sustainable and environmentally friendly perspective."
The City Council reiterates its commitment to improving the urban environment and appreciates the residents' understanding during this work and any inconvenience it may cause to users of this space.
