IU-Verdes proposes the construction of two roundabouts in Cieza

Jesús Sánchez, councilor and spokesperson for IU-Verdes in Cieza, emphasizes the need to regulate traffic by building roundabouts at the intersection of Camino de Murcia and the Abarán road with Vereda de Morcillo.

Through a press release, the councilor-spokesperson of IU-Verdes of Cieza, Jesús Sánchez, announces that he will raise to the ordinary plenary session of April a motion for the City Council to request to the Autonomous Community of Murcia the inclusion, in the chapter on territorialized investments of this administration's budgets for the next fiscal year, of a game intended for the construction of two roundabouts near the urban center of Cieza. The first of these, at the intersection between the old National 301 with the Vereda de Morcillo; and the second, in the intersection of RM-512 with the old cattle trail.

Sánchez explains that “lat the intersection of the Vereda de Morcillo with the extension of the Camino de Murcia, former national 301, it is a dangerous intersection since it is located between two main communication routes of heavy traffic, coming from the entry and exit of vehicles through the southern access to the city, on the one hand, and equipment as important as the Mariano Rojas Sports Center, the Funeral Home, the IES Los Albares, the Barrio Hall, the La Arboleja soccer field and the Lorenzo Guirao Hospital.

The danger of the intersection increases -according to the councilor- due to the proximity of a curve with poor visibility, and by the frequent bus traffic in the area, due to the forced movement towards the aforementioned facilities, as well as the fact that the width of the roadway, which barely reaches four meters in the case of the Vereda de Morcillo and five in the old national road.”

But the intersection of Camino de Murcia with Vereda Morcillo is not the only conflictive point in this area, since at the other end of the path "we find the Intersection of RM-512 (Abarán road) with the entrance to the Lorenzo Guirao hospital ; a crossing that occurs also on a curve, which in the direction of the Funeral Home creates a very tight and dangerous turning angle, especially for buses, given that this road also has a width that does not exceed four meters," explains the municipal spokesperson for IU-Verdes of Cieza.

In the opinion of the councilor, "it is about Two traffic black spots near the town of Cieza, where some accidents have already occurred, and which need an urgent solution that The 2008 General Municipal Development Plan itself contemplates this.”.
