The library hosted the "I Decide" workshop of the Únicas project

Sources from the Cieza Town Hall report that the Padre Salmerón Municipal Library hosted the "I Decide" workshop this Wednesday morning, part of the Únicas project organized by the Women and Equality Commission of CERMI Region of Murcia. Participants included women with disabilities from Cieza. Also in attendance were the mayor, Tomás Rubio, the head of the Cieza Town Hall's Disability Department, Amparo Pino, and councilwoman Melba Miñano.

The Murcian Institute for Social Action and the Ministry of Women, Equality, LGBTI, Families, and Social Policy collaborated on this activity.

Laura Parra Sánchez, coordinator of Únicas, indicated that the third edition of the project was being presented with a talk on the empowerment of women with disabilities, addressing topics such as inclusive leisure activities, family, work, and social environments, and the concerns of these women. “In these workshops, we focus on what women with disabilities in the Region of Murcia want, what they desire, what they yearn for, and how they can represent themselves.”

For her part, Amparo Pino stated that “these types of actions shouldn't be isolated events throughout the year, but rather continuous and ongoing, with daily development. This issue must be considered a cross-cutting matter in other municipal areas, and cannot be limited to the Department of Disability; it requires the involvement of other municipal departments. Women with disabilities have a voice, and it must be used to express what we think and what we want. None of us should be confined to our homes.”
