The Community renews the CEIS fleet with 19 vehicles

With a budget of €4,018,000, they will be distributed among the various fire stations based on needs.

This morning, at the Molina de Segura fire station, the Autonomous Community presented the new fleet of vehicles purchased by the Regional Firefighting and Rescue Consortium. Comprising 19 vehicles, with a budget of €4,018,000, they will be distributed among the different stations according to the needs of each municipality.

This is the first phase of the CEIS's 2020-2023 Strategic Plan, which culminates in the renewal of large urban and industrial firefighting vehicles. In the second phase, older vehicles will continue to be replaced and the CEIS will be equipped with new ones it currently lacks, such as flood and landslide rescue vehicles and a command post for interventions.

These include two BUL 2000 light urban fire engines for the Cieza and Yecla stations; two BRP single-cab heavy rural fire engines for Mula and Mazarrón; six double-cab fire engines for the Lorca, Molina de Segura, Cieza, Yecla, Los Alcázares, and Caravaca de la Cruz stations; four BNP heavy tanker fire engines for Mula, Jumilla, Mazarrón, and Águilas; four command vehicles for Jumilla, Mazarrón, Alcantarilla, and Alhama de Murcia; and one rescue vehicle for the GRAEC, the CEIS Air Rescue Group, whose destination is Molina de Segura and in which this group will be able to transport the necessary equipment that cannot be transported by helicopter.

A vehicle specialized in hazardous goods and NBC risk has also been purchased, which will arrive in January, to control chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear elements that could cause environmental and social damage.

"The Murcia Region Fire and Rescue Consortium is undergoing a period of expansion. From January to date, our firefighters have carried out a total of 4,811 operations, 53 more than the same period last year, so it is our obligation to provide them with the necessary resources," stated the Regional Minister for Transparency, Security, and Emergencies, Antonio Sánchez Lorente.

"The Regional Government has a commitment to this group. This year, we have filled nine corporals, two sergeants, and 15 new firefighters. Even so, we continue working on the largest job opening at the CEIS in recent years." Sánchez Lorente noted that "we are immersed in the construction of two new fire stations, and we have three more in the process of rebuilding or remodeling. We have already been given a plot of land in Alcantarilla and another, which is in the process of being built, in Caravaca de la Cruz, to build new facilities. Investing in resources, personnel, and materials guarantees the well-being and safety of the people of Murcia," the councilor concluded.
