The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has carried out operation 'Quarrel', an investigation aimed at identifying a group of young people who intervened in a tumultuous fight at the Cieza fairgrounds, which has resulted in the arrest of 11 people, with a large criminal history, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of public disorder and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The investigation began last August, when the Civil Guard was alerted to a riot among a group of young people at the Cieza fairgrounds where, at that time, a concert was being held that had been attended by more than a thousand people.
They fled the scene, blending into the crowd
Patrols from the Civil Guard and the Local Police of the municipality of Cieza intervened in the altercation until they stopped it, managing to identify several of the people involved who, upon seeing the police, fled the scene by blending into the crowd.
Due to the large crowd, officers lost track of the suspects, one of whom brandished a knife to threaten an officer before fleeing. This knife and a large kitchen knife were seized.
From that moment, the Civil Guard began an investigation to gather the necessary evidence to identify these violent young men, knowing, at first, that they were members of two groups, based in Cieza, who had certain personal disagreements.
Civil Guard investigators gathered testimonies and videos of the altercation that allowed them to narrow the net around several residents of the town, all of them with extensive criminal records related to drug trafficking offenses.
Recently, Operation 'Quarrel' culminated in the arrest of 11 people, of Spanish and Moroccan nationality, aged between 18 and 39, whom the Civil Guard accuses of the alleged crimes of public disorder and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The detainees, the seized bladed weapons and the proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction of Cieza.
