The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has conducted an investigation in Cieza to clarify several robberies committed on the streets of the city center. This investigation has resulted in the identification, location, and arrest of the alleged perpetrator, a well-known and dangerous criminal.
The operation began a few weeks ago when Citizen Security Prevention specialists from the Benemérita (Benemérita) detected an increase in violent robberies committed on public streets, incidents in which some of the victims were injured after the robbers attacked them.
After verifying the facts, the Civil Guard began the corresponding investigation, which allowed them to obtain a profile of the alleged perpetrator and outline his modus operandi.
Street robberies
The perpetrator was on one of the streets in the urban area of Cieza, looking for future targets. Once selected, the robber approached the victim and, in a friendly manner, engaged in a brief conversation, asking for a light to light a cigarette, asking for the time, or requesting help with a nearby location.
When the victim least expected it, according to their own accounts, the robber would pounce on them and repeatedly beat them while stealing their valuables, such as handbags, purses, cell phones, jewelry, and watches. Once he had achieved his goal, he would flee on foot, sometimes leaving the victim injured.
As a result of the investigation, the Civil Guard officers of the Cieza Investigation Area identified a young and dangerous offender from the area, previously known and with an extensive criminal record, who, despite his youth, was allegedly behind the crimes under investigation.
Once all the necessary evidence was obtained, the Civil Guard launched a search for the suspect, which recently culminated in his location and arrest as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of robbery with violence and intimidation.
To date, investigators have solved two cases of robbery with violence and intimidation, although they remain open, as the now-detained man's involvement in further crimes has not been ruled out.
