Holy Week in Cieza sparks international media interest

Three print magazines and one digital one make extensive mention of Holy Week in Cieza, municipal sources confirm.

The celebration of Holy Week in Cieza, and specifically the Arrest on Holy Tuesday, has once again sparked the interest of the international media. This time, Italian media outlets have illustrated the celebration—two years later—in full color in both print and digital magazines.

"The close relationship and cultural similarities between Italy and Spain are compelling reasons why these media outlets have told the world about the religious, interpretive, and devotional spectacle that takes over the streets of Cieza every Holy Week."

“Italian magazines have highlighted above all the rigorous world premiere of the soundtrack for the Arrest, composed for the occasion by Jumilla musician Roque Baños, whom they describe as a great artist and winner of Goya awards.”

Another distinguishing feature of the four Italian publications is the faithful representation of the Arrest by the speakers, Romans, and other participants, as well as the virtual audiovisual montage projected onto the façade of the Church of the Assumption on Holy Tuesday.

Ciao Dona magazine features an interesting interview with Joaquín Gómez, president of the Board of Passion Brotherhoods of Cieza, where he highlights the success of public participation and attendance at all the Holy Week processions and the joy with which this edition has been experienced after overcoming the worst phase of the pandemic.

The international Italian publications that have picked up the film in the weeks following the performance of Prendimiento have been:

- Hello Donna: 80,000 paper copies

-The new Bussola Quatidiana https://lanuovabq.it/it/cieza-una-settimana-santa-senza-uguali

-BELLA: 60,000 paper copies.

-COSI: 80,000 copies published in paper.
