Although originally from Seville, Margarita Jiménez Manzano is a Cieza native by choice. Almost four decades ago, she left the Andalusian capital to settle in the Pearl of the Segura, where she has raised her family and developed her artistic and teaching career. For her artistic merits and her dedication to the town that has been her home for so long, the Royal Brotherhood of Jesus -Nazarene- has chosen her as the poster artist for «The Arrest» for the Holy Week of Cieza 2026, thus taking up the mantle of the Granadan Víctor Manuel Camacho and his own student, Antonio José Villa.

Margarita trained as an artist at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts in Seville, although her passion for art could be said to have been in her blood. It was in her maternal grandfather's workshop where, as a young girl, she discovered the power of drawing and the emotion contained in a glance.

Throughout his career, he has participated in countless group and solo exhibitions. He was a finalist in the Toledo Puche International Painting Competition, and in the religious brotherhoods' sphere, he won two prizes in the Cieza Holy Week Painting Competition: first place in 2013 and second place in 2015.

Her talent in art led her to receive a scholarship for four consecutive years at the Ifitry Artistic Residency in Morocco, where she developed a collection of works focused on the dialogue between identity and memory. For over fifteen years, she has directed the Municipal Academy of Art and the Popular University of Cieza, where she combines teaching with her artistic work.

His work falls within the realm of contemporary social realism, primarily created in black and white using graphite, charcoal, conté crayon, India ink, airbrush, and screen printing on wooden supports and in large format.

She is deeply moved by the world and current social realities; she is particularly interested in giving visibility to people who suffer or live with obstacles. In her portraits, she seeks to create gazes and details that invite reflection, offering the viewer an intimate experience between beauty and truth.
