An open window to nature, the exhibition of the 9th 'Cieza Flowering' Photography Competition offers a superb collection of images from different corners of the municipality, both agricultural and natural, where the beauty of this natural phenomenon that explodes with the arrival of spring is on full display. The photographer, immersed in the landscape, is the privileged witness to a sunset under a blanket of flowers or to almost dreamlike scenes, but also to the farmer's role in shaping this landscape. The finalist and award-winning photographs demonstrate that the importance given to any place depends, above all, on the eyes with which it is viewed.
In its ninth edition, the 'Cieza Flowering' Photography Contest, organized by the Cieza Photographic Association (CAF) in collaboration with the City Council, faced an even greater challenge than ever before: 109 high-quality photographs were submitted by nearly 30 participants. Each year the diversity and quality of the entries increases, and participation grows with each new edition. The jury had a very difficult task selecting the winning images. Miguel Sotomayor, from the Valencian Community, won the photography contest with his image titled 'Sun and Shadow in a Sea of Pink,' which received a first prize of 500 euros.
Salvador Belda and Carlos Izquierdo, with their works 'Alborada' and 'Mientras duermen las flores' (While the Flowers Sleep), won second and third place, respectively, prizes that also include a cash award. The president of the Cieza Photographic Association, Ramón Morcillo, praised the artistry and technique of the winning works at an event presided over by the Councilor for Tourism, Antonio Moya. The opening of the exhibition in the Andalusian houses of the Siyâsa Museum was attended by the Councilors for Museums and Culture, Conchi Villa and Melba Miñano, respectively, and members of the Municipal Corporation Manuel Egea and Laura Villa. This activity is part of the Flowering program and can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Sundays and holidays, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a maximum capacity of 50 percent in each room.
