On March 16th, at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption, as is tradition on the second Saturday of Lent, a Solemn Religious Service will be held for the souls of deceased members of the brotherhood. This year, in honor of its tenth anniversary, a veneration of the image of the Holy Christ of the Crowning with Thorns will be added, beginning at 4:00 PM and concluding just before Holy Mass.
As part of the tribute the Brotherhood of Jesus wishes to pay to its newest float, a cloistered procession with the image of Christ of the Crowning with Thorns will be added at the beginning of the 7:00 PM Holy Mass officiated by the Reverend José Antonio García López. The procession will be accompanied by the musical group 'No Tenemos Prisa' from Abarán.
The image may be carried by anyone who wishes, provided they are dressed in a white shirt, dark trousers, and shoes, and arrive at the Basilica 15 minutes before Mass. During Mass, Father Enrique Centeno will deliver a eulogy for the procession.
Following the Holy Mass, the welcoming ceremony for the new members will take place, and the awards of the Brotherhood of Jesus will be presented.
The event will conclude with a concert of processional marches by the 'No Tenemos Prisa' Musical Association of Abarán, which will perform 'Nuestro Padre Jesús' by Emilio Cebrián Ruiz, 'La Cruz de Doble Brazo' by Ignacio Sánchez Navarro, 'Espinas de Pasión' and 'Corazón Nazareno' by Antonio Jesús Hernández Alba, the latter two being premieres dedicated to the brotherhood, the first a march dedicated to the float of the Crowning with Thorns, and the second, a pasodoble dedicated to all the brothers of the brotherhood.
