The deadline for submitting bids for new investments in rural roads has now been published, following approval by the Governing Board, until the 24th of this month, according to sources from the Cieza Department of Agriculture.
Specifically, this new investment will be made on the El Olmico to Cabezo Redondo road, passing through El Acho (CR-269-270). This road was excluded from the Ministry of Agriculture's third call for proposals for the European Funds it manages for this purpose, specifically the 2014-2020 RDPs. This is in keeping with the commitment made to the Local Agricultural Council. As Councilor Antonio Moya announced at the meeting, "If the regional government doesn't do it, we'll fix it ourselves, and we'll do it before the season begins so that the fruit can be shipped in optimal transport conditions."
The cost of reinforcing the road surface of this road, which has been a long-standing demand from the industry, amounts to €78,406.94.
"Meanwhile, we are still awaiting the commitments made by the Ministry of Agriculture directly to the sector, both for the repair of roads damaged by DANA (September 2019) and for the roads included in the second round of the 2014-2020 RDPs."
With this new budget allocation, investments, funded solely from municipal budgets since 2015, now total around €900,000, "nine times more than the PP spent in the last eight years governing Cieza, thus fulfilling the commitment to improve the extensive network of rural roads our municipality has," concludes the Agriculture Department.
