This morning, at 11:58 a.m., after receiving several calls on 1-1-2 from residents of Cieza, CEIS Firefighters were called to a reed fire on the riverbank near Perdiguera.
A Civil Protection patrol, which was active with three volunteers, also responded after being alerted by cyclists, and the on-duty environmental officer also responded to the scene of the fire.
Thanks to the swift and effective response of the deployed resources, the fire was quickly brought under control.
Last night, Friday, firefighters also extinguished a brush fire near a mountain in the El Jinete area, without affecting the forest area.
There have been numerous fires in sugarcane and scrubland areas in Cieza in the first few months of the year.
