The 33rd Segura Folklore Festival is presented

The Mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio, and the Councilor for Culture, María Turpín, attended the presentation of the 33rd International Folklore Festival in Segura this Wednesday. Organized by the town's Choir and Dance Group, the festival will take place from August 18 to 20. The event, which took place at the Folklore Center, was attended by the festival's director, Jesús Saorín, and the artist Juan Antonio Abellán Juliá, the designer of this year's promotional poster.

The Folkloric Ballet of La Paz (Bolivia), the Tungurahua Folkloric Group (Ecuador), Esemble Toska (North Macedonia), the Rosa del Azafrán Choir and Dance Group (Castilla La Mancha), and the Choirs and Dances of Cieza will perform on August 19 and 20 in separate sessions that will begin at 9:00 p.m. at the Capitol Theater.

Beforehand, on August 18th at 8:30 p.m., there will be a parade through the streets of Cieza featuring the participating groups. Following this, the Plaza de España will be the venue for the official reception by the Cieza City Council for the invited groups, the Tribute to the Nations, and the market of the peoples of the world.

Groups from Bolivia, Ecuador, North Macedonia, a group from Castilla-La Mancha, and the Choirs and Dances of Cieza will participate.

The councilor supported the celebration of this festival and pledged to increase municipal financial support in the next budget. In his words, "You are great ambassadors of Cieza's culture, and this festival is one of them thanks to the opportunity each year to learn about the folklore of other peoples around the world."

In his speech, the mayor congratulated the Cieza group for being awarded the Gold Medal of the Region of Murcia. "It's another source of pride for the people of Cieza," he emphasized.

For her part, the Councilor for Culture highlighted the quality of the event, which, in her opinion, "has become a hallmark of the municipality, representing culture in a big way. Thirty-three editions have been held, and things have been done very well."

Sponsored by the Department of Culture of the Cieza City Council and the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, the event has a budget of 27,200 euros. Tickets will cost 8 euros. Those wishing to attend both sessions will receive a 2 euro discount on each ticket.
